Cheesy garlic bread in the air fryer: have you ever tried it? A simple and tasty recipe that can be the perfect side dish to a main course or served as an appetizer. It is the type of recipe where you decide how much garlic or cheese you want.

Garlic Bread was one of the first things I learned how to make when I was a kid in the “Old-Toaster Oven Days”. It is so versatile and the fresher the ingredients the better it tastes. You know we like to keep recipes simple. Since you don’t need to fret over your ingredients, let me show you how simple it is with what you have in the fridge or cupboard. Although this one might be simple, the warmth of the bread with the taste of the garlic and the cheese melting will make everyone happy in the house.
How it all started
My first cheesy bread was done with 3 ingredients, yup that’s it. Mom bought the best sourdough bread, so I was already off to a good start. Next, I used good old margarine because I could spread it easier. I would learn the joys of softened butter, later. The final touch was good old Kraft Parmesan and into the toaster, it went. I was cooking.
I always enjoyed cooking. At a young age, I was able to help with making eggs, pancakes & popcorn. I am glad I started early, so when it came time to make my school lunch I knew a bit about food. I found different ways to make my cheesy bread with what mom had in the house. The first step was adding in garlic. It started simply with whatever mom had in the cupboard, garlic powder, garlic salt, crushed garlic,… and it has reached its zenith when I tried Gilroy Garlic or fresh roasted garlic. The next big ingredient on the list is cheese, which one to choose from? When we were living in Italy, we made so many different variations of cheesy garlic bread with different cheeses, so have fun with what is available to you.
Over the last few months, we have worked as a family on perfecting our cheesy garlic bread recipe. We tested, tasted, and retested and found out that mixing cheeses together was the perfect combination. Don’t be afraid, it is just like getting a Quattro Formaggi (Four Cheese) pizza. We enjoy adding sliced provolone with shredded mozzarella on top and finishing with grated Parmigiano. It makes for the perfect ooey-gooey cheesy bite every time. You can now see just how versatile Garlic Cheesy Bread can be.
Are you ready to see what we came up with?
Ingredients
- 1 demi-baguette *NOTE*
- 3 slices of smoked provolone cheese *NOTE*
- 1/4 cup shredded Parmigiano cheese (we use freshly grated Parmigiano)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese *NOTE*
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 teaspoon of each dried parsley, garlic powder *NOTE*, and crushed garlic *NOTE*
Notes
- Demi-Baguette: This is the bread I will try to use if I can. However, I have made them with different pieces of bread from sourdough, to ciabatta or even sandwich bread and they were all delicious.
- Smoked-provolone adds some depth into the taste. I choose slices so it gives a good base of cheese before I put the shredded mozzarella on top.
- I buy my mozzarella in blocks and shredded it at home. Makes for the gooey stringy bite.
- Garlic powder: we love garlic as you can see. If you don’t want too much of a garlic taste either use 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder or don’t use it and only use the crushed garlic.
- Crushed garlic: There is a lot out there and our utmost favorite is Gilroy Crushed Garlic. It tastes just like roasted garlic you made at home. We have tried other brands and they are either too oily, taste like vinegar or the garlic taste is too bitter.
How do we make cheesy garlic bread?
- Cut the demi-baguette in half. Make sure it will fit into your air fryer. If you are not using a baguette, get enough bread out that will fit in your air fryer.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt your butter and then add the garlic powder. Mix until the butter and the powder are well blended.
- Brush the butter mixture on the bread.
- Spread 1/2 teaspoon of crushed garlic on each bread.
- Cut your provolone cheese slices to fit on the buttered garlic bread.
- Add the shredded mozzarella evenly on each bread, covering as much as you can.
- Sprinkle some Parmigiano cheese on top of the mozzarella.
- Sprinkle some dried parsley on top of the bread.
- Put your bread pieces in the air fryer basket and bake at 330 degrees F for 8 minutes or until nice and golden.
- Cut and serve warm!

Cheesy Garlic Bread in the Air Fryer
Equipment
- Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 1 demi-baguette or any bread you like
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon crushed garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 3 slices provolone cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup shredded Parmigiano we love using freshly grated Parmigiano as it melts really good.
Instructions
- Cut the demi-baguette in half. Make sure it will fit into your air fryer. If you are not using a baguette, get enough bread out that will fit in your air fryer.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and mix in the garlic powder. Mix until the powder is well blended in the butter.
- Brush the butter mixture on the cut bread. If you don't have a pastry brush, a butter knife works just as well.
- With a knife, spread 1/2 teaspoon of crushed garlic on each bread piece. Don't be tempted to add more, a little of crushed garlic goes a long way.
- Cut your provolone cheese slices to fit on the buttered garlic bread. In my case, I cut the slices in half.
- Add the shredded mozzarella evenly on each bread, covering as much as you can.
- Sprinkle some Parmigiano cheese on top of the mozzarella.

- Put your bread pieces in the air fryer basket and bake at 330 degrees F for 8 minutes or until nice and golden.
- Cut and serve warm!
