Looking for a new snack? One that is quick and easy but more importantly everyone will love. I found it, Air Fryer Chocolate Roasted Almonds. It only takes a few minutes to make, the right amount of sweetness, crunch, and the chocolate flavor will make you want to have more.

Why I love creating our own roasted Almonds in the air fryer
It all started a few weeks ago at the grocery store. The kids were asking if they could get this new roasted mixed nuts bag. It was a new semi-sweet mix that looked really good, can’t blame them. They like to grab almonds or mixed nuts as a quick snack before heading out to play or with their lunch. I looked at the ingredients, unfortunately, had to say no. It wasn’t just a lot of sodium but all the other ingredients that you don’t find in your kitchen. We want flavors, not salt. Since my last few trails have been a success, I thought I give a semi-sweet a shot. We are all glad I did.
When doing our own roasted nuts we start with raw nuts or if not available lightly salted, in this case, almonds and we add the flavors that we want. You will be surprised how little you need.
Ingredients you will need to make these air fryer roasted almonds
- 1 bag (16 oz) raw almonds, approximately 3 cups
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 5 tablespoons cacao powder, divided
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Notes
- If using slightly salted almonds, omit the 1/8 teaspoon of salt.
- Choose the cacao powder of your choice. I like to use raw cacao powder.
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, mix the almonds and maple syrup. Stir until all almonds are coated.
- Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of cacao powder.
- With a wood spoon, mix until all almonds are covered with cacao powder.
- Pour into the basket of the air fryer
- Roast on manual setting, 320 degrees F for 3 minutes.
- Shake the basket and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Shake and stir the basket one last time and finish cooking for 2 more minutes. At this time the almonds are hot, not too crunchy.
- Pour back into the mixing bowl and add 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix until all almonds are covered.
- Mix in the last 2 tablespoons of cacao powder. Pour into a cookie sheet to cool completely
- Serve and Enjoy!
Baker’s note
skills
When roasting almonds in the air fryer it is important to shake the basket every 3 minutes. This will make for a more even roasting
Keep the almonds into an air tight container for 4 to 5 days.
