Three reasons why we love Rice Krispies treats

    • No-Bake – The only heat needed is to melt the marshmallow mixture. I use the stovetop for ease and control. Then it is just combining the Rice Krispies, forming the coal lumps, and cooling. You may want to set security if you do have some little rascals running around.
    • Kids can help – Once the marshmallow is added to the Rice Krispies your little hands can help to make the coal. If you have an up-and-coming chef, it is a great chance to let them handle the measuring and even the melting of marshmallow mixture, with supervision. This is an excellent recipe to let that chef handle the whole recipe on their own.
    • Possibilities – We like having fun with our food here at The Kitchen Bucket List. When Vittoria figured out how to get a black-grayish color into the Rice Krispies treat we all thought what a fun way to use it as lumps of coal. You can use it to enhance a gingerbread village to a fun Christmas treat.

If your resident BBQer is a Rice Krispies treats fan, what a fun way to give them a homemade treat. They can enjoy it while making Holiday magic on the BBQ. Need some Christmas BBQ ideas? Here you go: Smoked Pork Butt; Double Smoked Ham; Smoked Sirloin Tip Roast; Bone in Ribeye.

If your resident BBQer is a Rice Krispies treats fan, what a fun way to give them a homemade treat. They can enjoy it while making Holiday magic on the BBQ. Need some Christmas BBQ ideas? Here you go:

    • Smoked Pork Butt – A classic BBQ recipe with hickory wood that gives this smoked pork butt a hint of bacon.
    • Double Smoked Ham – Take that classic ham and add more savory aromatics for a double smoked shank ham.
    • Smoked Sirloin Tip Roast – Cooked “Low and Slow” our smoked sirloin tip roast is meaty, tender, and flavorful with just a hint of maple smoke.
    • Bone in Ribeye – Cook a few black Angus bone in ribeye cowboy cuts for a Holiday feast. You get the perfect doneness with our reverse sear BBQ recipe.

Using a stovetop burner gives you more control when melting the marshmallow. If you choose to use a microwave watch the mixture, as it can overflow more easily.

    Equipment

The lumps of coal Rice Krispies treats just need everyday kitchen equipment: a saucepan, a large mixing bowl, and a cookie sheet.

    Storage

Storage: Honestly this is not an issue here as I’m sure it is the same for you. There are always little or big hands snaking on them. If you have any survivors they are good for 2-3 days.
