Looking for a new snack? One that is quick and easy but more importantly everyone will love. I found it, air fryer chocolate roasted almonds. It only takes a few minutes to make. This easy air fryer snack has the right amount of sweetness, crunch, and of course chocolate. The perfect solution for a sweet and crunchy snack attack.
Why I love air fryer chocolate roasted almonds
It all started a few weeks ago at the grocery store. The kids were asking if they could get this new roasted mixed nuts bag. It was a new semi-sweet mix that looked really good, can’t blame them. They like to grab almonds or mixed nuts as a quick snack before heading out to play or with their lunch. I looked at the ingredients and, unfortunately, had to say no. It wasn’t just a lot of sodium but all the other ingredients that you don’t find in your kitchen. We want flavors, not salt. Since my last few air fryer roasted nuts have been a success, I thought I give a semi-sweet chocolate roasted almonds a shot. Everyone was glad I did.
When doing our own roasted nuts I start with raw nuts or if not available lightly salted. Let me show you how some staple ingredients can pack a flavor punch.
Ingredients
- 1 bag (16 oz) raw almonds, approximately 3 cups
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 5 tablespoons cacao powder, divided
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, mix the almonds and maple syrup. Stir until all almonds are coated.
- Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of cacao powder.
- With a wood spoon, mix until all almonds are covered with cacao powder.
- Pour into the basket of the air fryer
- Air fry at 320°F for 4 minutes.
- Shake the basket and cook for an additional 4 minutes. Shake and stir the basket one last time.
- Pour back into the mixing bowl and add 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix until all almonds are covered.
- Mix in the last 2 tablespoons of cacao powder. Pour into a cookie sheet to cool completely.
- Serve and Enjoy your chocolate roasted almonds.
Quick tips
- I have found even when using slightly salted almonds adding 1/8 teaspoon of salt is still needed.
- Choose the cacao powder of your choice. I like to use raw cacao powder.
