Birthday donuts: This delicious donut is easy, simple, and absolutely tasty. The texture of the donut is fluffy and without the glaze, it is not overly sweet. I can guarantee that this donut will be the star at the breakfast table.

Why I love this Birthday donuts?

My sister and I had a blast making these donuts, glaze and of course, decorating them. Who doesn’t like playing with funfetti? I hope you, your family, and your friends have a lot of fun making the donuts just as my sister and I did. This recipe is:

    • A great recipe to make with the kids: The kids will have so much fun decorating the donuts, but ask an adult to handle putting the donuts in the oven.
    • Perfect for breakfast: They are the best treat for a fun breakfast or snack.
    • Easy: For the donuts, I use cake mix. which saves a lot of time.

    Ingredients to make this recipe

    Donuts:

    • 1 box funfetti cake mix, I used the Rainbow Cake Mix from Duncan Hines, 15.25 oz
    • ¾ cup milk, I used 2% but you could use whole milk
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or any vegetable oil you like
    • ½ cup sprinkles (I like using rainbow jimmies)

    Glaze:

    • 1 cup powder sugar
    • 2 tablespoons salted melted butter, you could use unsalted if you prefer.
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • Pinch of salt
    • ½ teaspoon meringue powder
    • Optional: ¼ cup rainbow sprinkles
glazed simple donut top with funfetti

    Instructions for the Birthday Donuts:

    Donuts:

    1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
    2. Spray oil on a donut pan.
    3.  In a large bowl with a hand mixer, combine all the ingredients. Mix until all ingredients are blended.
    4. Pour the batter into a piping bag. (This step makes it easier for pouring into the donut pan)
    5. Cut the end tip of the piping bag when ready to pipe.
    6. Pipe each of the prepared doughnut pan to 2/3 full.
    7. Bake for 8 minutes.
    8. The donuts should be golden brown, and when insert a toothpick it comes out clean.
    9. Allow the donuts to cool off for 2-3 minutes in the pan.
    10. Take the donuts out of the pan on a cooling rack.
    11. Repeat steps 6 to 10 until you have used all the batter. I like to re-oil my pan in between each batch.

    Glaze:

    1.  In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the glaze.

    Assemble:

    1. Dip half of each donut in the glaze.
    2. Sprinkle the rainbow sprinkles if you desire.
    3. Serve and Enjoy!

    • Warm and fresh Dinner Rolls right out of the Air Fryer. Imagine homemade rolls cooked in just over 10 minutes. Ready when you want them. I'm a baker at heart and I love combining it with my air fryer. This recipe can have a batch of easy dinner rolls done so quickly. We all love those warm dinner rolls served when we're out to dinner. Now you can enjoy the same thing at home. Imagine watching the butter melt on the freshly opened rolls for mealtime magic.

    • Focaccia from scratch baked in under 15-minutes in the Ninja Foodi. Can you imagine the light salty crust and airy crumb? It is like having the best French Fry you have ever had but it's bread. We could always find Focaccia straight out of the oven when we lived back in Italy. Actually, we lived in Liguria where it originated. One thing I love was how easy it was to always find it fresh at the local bakery or I should say Focacciaria. Everyone needs to experience this Italian treat in their own home without jetlag. Focaccia in the Ninja Foodi is from-scratch with a crisp crust, tender and airy crumb. Even better this focaccia is done in under an hour…half of that time is just proofing. So, now it is my turn to share with you.

    • You are going to devour these Funfetti Cookies. They have a perfectly crispy edge and a soft chewy center. Better yet it is a big cookie, that is fit for a dessert all by itself.

    • Breakfast meat on the Blackstone has been a game changer. Everything is done in one place, i.e. "one pan", more flavor, fewer dishes. Our favorites are by far bacon, sausage links, and sausage patties. Oh by the way, clean-up is a breeze.

    • It is so easy to do Scrambled Eggs on the Blackstone. The best is you can make a bunch and each to order, from meat lovers to veggie. You get a wonderful texture and I find using "LOW" to one mark above lets me be able to cook various styles of eggs. It also makes it easier to add additional toppings to the scrambled eggs on the Blackstone. You are going to love the simplicity of being able to cook a full breakfast you thought only possible at a restaurant.
