Birthday donuts: This delicious donut is easy, simple, and absolutely tasty. The texture of the donut is fluffy and without the glaze, it is not overly sweet. I can guarantee that this donut will be the star at the breakfast table.

Why I love this Birthday donuts?

My sister and I had a blast making these donuts, glaze and of course, decorating them. Who doesn’t like playing with funfetti? I hope you, your family, and your friends have a lot of fun making the donuts just as my sister and I did. This recipe is:

    • A great recipe to make with the kids: The kids will have so much fun decorating the donuts, but ask an adult to handle putting the donuts in the oven.
    • Perfect for breakfast: They are the best treat for a fun breakfast or snack.
    • Easy: For the donuts, I use cake mix. which saves a lot of time.

    Ingredients to make this recipe

    Donuts:

    • 1 box funfetti cake mix, I used the Rainbow Cake Mix from Duncan Hines, 15.25 oz
    • ¾ cup milk, I used 2% but you could use whole milk
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or any vegetable oil you like
    • ½ cup sprinkles (I like using rainbow jimmies)

    Glaze:

    • 1 cup powder sugar
    • 2 tablespoons salted melted butter, you could use unsalted if you prefer.
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • Pinch of salt
    • ½ teaspoon meringue powder
    • Optional: ¼ cup rainbow sprinkles
glazed simple donut top with funfetti

    Instructions for the Birthday Donuts:

    Donuts:

    1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
    2. Spray oil on a donut pan.
    3.  In a large bowl with a hand mixer, combine all the ingredients. Mix until all ingredients are blended.
    4. Pour the batter into a piping bag. (This step makes it easier for pouring into the donut pan)
    5. Cut the end tip of the piping bag when ready to pipe.
    6. Pipe each of the prepared doughnut pan to 2/3 full.
    7. Bake for 8 minutes.
    8. The donuts should be golden brown, and when insert a toothpick it comes out clean.
    9. Allow the donuts to cool off for 2-3 minutes in the pan.
    10. Take the donuts out of the pan on a cooling rack.
    11. Repeat steps 6 to 10 until you have used all the batter. I like to re-oil my pan in between each batch.

    Glaze:

    1.  In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the glaze.

    Assemble:

    1. Dip half of each donut in the glaze.
    2. Sprinkle the rainbow sprinkles if you desire.
    3. Serve and Enjoy!
