    Breakfast of champions

For the longest time breakfast in our house was a challenge. A constant debate over what the children wanted or didn’t. I was not happy about this as we started our day. The children were hungry but indecisive about what was available to eat. I did some research on how I could present food. I learned that the solution for my family was simple, get the children involved.

We started making breakfast items from scratch, more on that soon. It made me feel better as a mom to know exactly what is in the meal. The children were now involved with making their breakfast. If you have younger ones, give them something simple to do like add a favorite fruit. Granola is my crew’s favorite, so it was the obvious first choice to make at home. We all love it. Best decision ever! We now choose our flavor combinations and ingredients. It was the end of our morning breakfast struggles. Now, making granola in the air fryer is a no-brainer, so quick and easy!

What you will need for this air fryer Nutella granola

    • 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
    • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1/2 cup almonds
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 1/4 cup Nutella
    • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
    • 1/8 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon heavy cream

    Notes:

Vegetable oil: We love using the cooking olive oil, but you can use any of your favorite cooking oil.

Maple syrup: The maple syrup can be substituted with honey.

Almonds: The almonds can be substituted with your favorite nuts.

Chocolate chips: The chocolate chips can be substituted with another type of chocolate (morsels, mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips,…)

Air fryer: I use the Cosori 5,8 qt, but cooking times might be different with other types of air fryer.

    Directions:

    1. In a large bowl combine oats, chocolate chips, and almonds. Set aside.
    2. In a saucepan on low heat, mix in oil, Nutella, salt, maple syrup, and heavy cream in a saucepan on low heat.
    3. Stir constantly, for 2-3 minutes or until the mixture becomes a chocolate syrup.
    4. Take the saucepan off the heat and pour the chocolate mixture on the dry ingredients.
    5. Stir until the chocolate mixture coats the oats, almonds, and chocolate.
    6. Pour the granola mixture into the air fryer basket, spread evenly.
    7. With a fork or your mixing spoon, gently press the mixture down.
    8. Cook in the air fryer at 320 degrees F for 13 to 15 minutes until the granola is crispy and golden.
    9. Take the air fryer basket out of the air fryer and let the granola cool off completely, 30 minutes
    10. Once the granola is completely cool, place it in a bowl or baking sheet and break it into pieces.
    11. Serve and Enjoy!

    FAQs

How long can I keep the granola? Once it is completely cooled off, we put it in an air-tight container for 5 days. It only makes it for two days, before my crew has eaten it all up.

How can I eat granola? This granola is excellent just on its own. We mix it with yogurt, on-the-go snack, crumbled over ice cream, or just add milk.

Why do I have to wait until completely cool before removing it from the basket? We do this, so we have clusters. If you remove it from the basket while it is still warm, you will have much smaller pieces.

My kids love granola with yogurt for breakfast and I always make it myself, but I’ve never seen a NUTELLA granola before! That sounds delicious and I am 100% going to be making this.
