Yes, you can griddle your own crispy and warm tortillas to make Taco Shells on the Blackstone. You are going to love how easy this is.
Taco Shells on the Blackstone are all about how you want them. You can pick whatever tortillas you want from gluten-free to spinach. Our favorites are corn and flour. The flour tortillas have the advantage of various sizes. So you can make some “Big” tacos or tasty street tacos. The corn can be shaped into shells or heck do fajitas. Keep in mind, you choose if the tortilla shells are crispy or soft.

What are you going to fill those shells up with?
There are so many options out there. Go convenient with some ground beef and a seasoning packet or give our flank steak recipe a try. Or maybe just warm them up for fajitas or burritos. The best thing here is you can cook up whatever meat you want or use leftovers. Honestly, leftovers can be a great call. Our pulled pork is so tasty even after being in the fridge.
Smoked Pork Butt is easier to cook then you think. Just a bit of patience and you can be shredding it for moist and tender pulled pork.
Beef and sausage with our homemade taco seasoning from our Street Tacos recipe. Need it to be convenient? We got you. The recipe card walks you through doing the taco seasoning with a packet too.
Smoked Chicken Drumsticks “Low & Slow” done in under 2 hours. Our easy rub brings just the right amount of spice. Not enough time? Easy, give our Air Fryer Chicken Drumsticks a go.
Flank Steak is a one of my favorites. The marinade is all about convenience, a “Taco Mix” packet is the seasoning. Just remember to marinate the flank steak the day before.
Variations
- Spicy – add chili pepper flakes or chili powder for a wow effect. That is why I use a bit of oil on the tortillas to allow seasonings to adhere.
- Natural – don’t want to add oil, no problem. The trick here is to lightly oil the griddle like you would for any grilling. Then just put the tortilla down and let it warm up, about 1 minute or less. Now just flip it onto the other side and grill them to your liking.
- Kid-friendly – This is a great simple recipe for them to help with, like brushing the oil on the tortillas before you take them out to the griddle.
- Dessert – Maybe I should call this one kid-friendly. Add a thin layer of butter then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
For a more buttery smooth texture to the corn tortillas add a thin layer of butter and a pinch of salt. Then place them on the griddle butter side up to soak in.
Equipment
- Blackstone Griddle (Large griddle)

- Blackstone taco rack (Optional)
- Griddle spatulas
- BBQ tongs
FAQS
In my opinion, yes. We have used the cooling rack method before and it is a convenient solution. The taco rack does make shaping the tacos much easier.
Oh yes! It is even easier. Just warm up the griddle then turn it off. If you just cooked up your sides and meat, turn it off and let the temperature come down to below 300 degrees F. Oil the grill and put them on for about 1 minute then flip them. Wait until they are where you want them for about another minute or two.
Serve the shells warm
- Serve right off the griddle- Honestly, these tortillas are best served as soon as they are done.
