Imagine making the best chocolate chip cookies with a secret ingredient? It’s possible and now you can too. These are the absolute best chocolate chip cookies I ever made. It even has a secret ingredient. By adding cream cheese to the recipe the result is amazing. It is the perfect mix of chewy and crispy cookies. Fresh out of the oven or served as a treat with a glass of cold milk, this cookie will be the star for your family and guests.

Have you ever made chocolate chip cookies with cream cheese? It’s a must-do. The cream cheese brings a soft, chewy texture to your cookie. Don’t run away! Let’s take a look at how easy they are to make.

Chocolate chip cookies are comfort food from the cookie family. However, it depends on which recipe we are making. We love them all, but deep down half of my tribe likes chewy and soft and the other half crunchy. So, I was on a mission to find a recipe where everyone will be happy.

Great news! I got 100% on both sides. What makes this cookie even better is it does not matter how we eat it, it’s always a treat. Fresh out of the oven! Later on, in the evening! Or with a cold glass of milk!

Let’s take a look at how we make them.

    First, let’s gather our ingredients:

    • ½ cup butter
    • ¼ cup cream cheese
    • ½ cup packed brown sugar
    • ½ cup of raw sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 2 cups cake flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup chocolate chips

Now that we have all our ingredients out, let’s make those cookies

    Step one:

    •     Preheat your oven to 350-degree F.

    •     Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat if you have one.

    Step two: Wet ingredients

    • In a large mixing bowl, with a hand mixer cream together butter, cream cheese, and    sugar for about 2 minutes.
    • Add the egg and the vanilla extract. Mix until the ingredients are all incorporated.
    • Set aside

    Step 3: Dry Ingredients

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together cake flour, baking soda, and salt
    • Add the chocolate chip cookies and mix until they are all coated with flour.

Step 4: Time to put it all together

    • Slowly, (approximately 1/3 of the flour mixture) add the dry ingredients into the wet. Mixing in between each but be careful not to overmix. Once all the flour is incorporated, you are good.
Clear bowl with light brown wet mixture and dry, flour mixture on top. Hand mixer on left side with whisk inside the bowl

Step 5: Let’s shape those cookies

    • With a large cookie spoon, scoop the dough into balls and place them on the prepared cookie sheet.
    • Cook in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until the edge are golden.

    Baker’s notes:

    SKILLS:

    • I cream the butter with sugar for 2 minutes as it gives a fluffier cookie as a result, which we prefer.

    CHEF’S TOOLS:

    • Mixing bowls: I used Anchor and Hockings Glassware
    • Baking Sheet: USA pan
    • Scoop: Piazza Ice Cream scoop
    • Danish Whisk: Tobepico Danish Dough Whisk
