Using crescent dough vs pizza dough
These air fryer mini cinnamon rolls are a quick fun kid-approved breakfast. I chose the crescent dough as it gives more of a pillowy and light texture to the cinnamon rolls. Pizza dough works as well if you want to go for a thinner and chewier texture.
Why we love mini cinnamon rolls
When craving warm ooey gooey mini cinnamon rolls, time can be of the essence, that is why I use the crescent dough. No need to wait for the oven or make the dough from scratch the night before. Here is why I love using this method:
- Simple: The mini cinnamon rolls use simple steps and ingredients like crescent dough, so anyone can make it. There are no special skills required and it is a fun recipe to do with the kids.
- Easy: Preparation is straightforward with no mixing ✨ roll ✨ sprinkle ✨ cut. Your little helper will learn some essential basic kitchen skills.
- Tasty: The cinnamon and brown sugar melt together to give you a caramel-like texture. Combining this with the warm dough and the glaze gives you the perfect sweet breakfast.

- Mixing Bowl
Ingredients
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent dough sheet
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
Glaze
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions

- Butter a 6 x 6 inch baking pan. Set aside.
- On a floured surface, roll the crescent dough into a rectangle, approximately 13 x 17 inches.
- Brush melted butter on the dough.
- Sprinkle brown sugar evenly, leaving a border of about ½ inch with no brown sugar.
- Time to add the cinnamon mixture over the brown sugar.
- Roll the dough tightly. SEE NOTES
- Trim the edges of the dough roll and cut into 1-inch pieces. This should give you 17 mini cinnamon rolls.
- Place each piece into the buttered pan. Bake in the air fryer at 320℉ for 7 to 8 minutes or until golden.
- Let them cool for 2 -3 minutes. This is the perfect amount of time to make the glaze.
Glaze
- Mix the powdered sugar and heavy cream in a bowl.
- Once the mini cinnamon rolls have cooled cover with the glaze.
- Serve and Enjoy!
Notes
- The crescent dough sheet can be substituted by the one that is already perforated into triangles. You will need to be careful when rolling the dough not to tear the seams.
- Always make sure to roll the dough tightly. This is what allows the mini cinnamon rolls to hold their shape better while cooking and for the filling to remain inside. The method for a tight roll is to press the long edge of the dough, closes to you, down on your working surface. Then start rolling the opposite long edge towards you. If the close side slips, simply press it down again and continue rolling.
