The Perfect Morning Scone
These Funfetti Scones are a delightful twist on the classic treat: soft, buttery, and filled with colorful sprinkles for a festive touch! Perfect for birthdays, brunches, or just adding a little fun to your morning, they bake up golden on the outside and tender on the inside.
Ingredients
- 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup raw sugar
- 2½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup sprinkles (jimmy kind)
- ¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chip
- 1 tablespoon butter for brushing
- 1 tablespoon milk for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
- Grease a cookie sheet or lined with parchment paper. Set aside
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cubed cold butter and mix with 2 knives until the mixture is all crumbly
- Make a well in the center and add milk and vanilla extract.
- Mix until all incorporated, you will have a very sticky dough
- Add sprinkles and chocolate chips
- Transfer dough to a floured surface.
- Knead until the dough forms a nice ball. We might need to add flour, 1 tablespoon at a time
- Roll dough in a 9-inch circle and cut 8 pieces, like a pizza.
- Transfer to an oiled cookie sheet
- Brush each wedge with milk and butter and sprinkle some sugar. I use raw sugar
- Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until edge are nice and golden
- Cool on the pan for 5 minutes & Enjoy!
