Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Stand-Up mixer
  • baking sheet
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Dough Scoop 1 1/2 tablespoon
  • Silicone Baking Mat

Ingredients

Pretzel Dough

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (between 90 - 95 degrees F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 envelop)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

Baking Soda Bath

  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda

Topping

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter (salted or unsalted your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon salt (or Kosher salt)

Instructions

Pretzel Dough

  • In the stand-up mixer bowl combine 1 1/2 cups of warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it be for 4 - 5 minutes until the mixture starts to foam up. This means your yeast is good
  • Incorporate flour and salt into the yeast mixture. Mix on medium speed until all ingredients are combined
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for 4 to 5 minutes. The dough will form a ball. It will be tackie, and sticky, but doesn't easily stick to your fingers
  • Place the dough into an oiled bowl and let it rise for 30 minutes
  • Use a dough scoop to scoop the dough into the palm of your hand. Roll to form a ball. Place on a cookie sheet. Set aside

Baking Soda Bath

  • In a medium to large saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil
  • Once it is boiling, carefully add the baking soda
  • Turn off the heat
  • Add 4 to 6 balls of pretzel dough into the baking soda bath for 30 seconds
  • After 30 seconds, transfer to a cookie sheet with a cooling rack

Air Frying

  • Line your air fryer with parchment paper
  • Place the pretzel balls into the air fryer leaving enough room for the air to circulate around each one. With my air fryer, I can do 9 at a time
  • On manual setting, air fryer for 3 minutes at 390 degrees F
  • Flip the dough and air fryer for an additional 4 minutes
  • Transfer them to a cooling rack. Repeat

Topping

  • Brushed melted butter on the pretzel bites
  • Sprinkle with salt
  • Serve and Enjoy!
